Dance to the Radio by David Crawford

David Crawford, the new media artist behind of Speed II has just published a new and exciting project on turbulence.org. The project uses low cost Stock Photography to randomly generate flash video clips for the 80’s post-punk band, Joy Division. David’s work is quite extraordinary every single time, and Dance to the Radio is again a very excellent, very intelligent and yet extremely enteraining piece.

I am looking at the piece again, and it feels like the future of music videos. This is just the right stuff. Mood editing.

• Divide song into mood areas. Account for buildups.
• Create collections of clips to illustrate the moods
• Let a real time editing algorhythm generate videos on the fly.
• Create controlled Unique Experiences.

Forget MTV.

Just one way of looking at it. David’s piece is art. It inspires.
