Permutations, Variations (2020–2021)

variations_01_large gallery wall.jpg

A series of oil on linen drawings connected to the idea of growth from a nucleus, a beginning. Because of the old masters materials used to create these pieces, they will age and adjust to the environment over time. Especially the whites chosen will shift in colour over decades and centuries. We will not get to see this full maturation outcome, but someone will. (And that’s also the point.)

The work was created in the Exmouth Market Studio in London. The main medium used was linseed oil and the works took over a year to dry.

Each individual painting in this series is 60x50cm. Installation dimensions vary by location. Various combinations of the drawings can be displayed.

First shown to the wider public as part of an exhibition at MOVART contemporary art gallery in Lisbon in December 2025.
