The weather was quite good today, so the giraffes were outside, and so were the elephants and some monkeys. Yes, I spent the morning at the bronx zoo, trying to get some good shots of various happy and less happy animals. It was not as good as last time, when I shot the Giraffe in a virtual reality environment, but it was a good exercise. Maybe I will finally have some shots with the 300mm lens that I can post here; wešll see. Maybe shooting all Giraffes in north american zoošs is a bit too ambitious of a project. As it turns out, there is a large population of them and there seem to be about 600 that are not even accounted for. Giraffes off the books. But how about the Sumatran Rhino. These friendly and hairy animals might not be as attractive as giraffes, at least not at first sight, but they seem to be very sensitive and they have this mammoth look... And they are dying out! Horrible, horrible stuff. The Rhino at the bronx zoo was saved from an area that was enclosed by highways. How scary is that?
What can we do?
